Use cases
Use cases are essential for testing scenarios and validating ideas in real-world contexts. By simulating practical applications, they allow us to assess the feasibility, functionality, and impact of concepts before full-scale implementation. This helps identify potential challenges, refine solutions, and ensure that the ideas are capable of delivering real value.

IDO use cases
Currently have are seven use cases running to test the application of IDO, each case is led by a team focused on real-world scenarios.
Below you can find info about one of these use cases. The use cases are actively maintained and updated on GitHub as the team make new progress and discoveries.
Valve ontology
The value of using a common ontology in industrial value chains, particularly for product types like valves, is to enable collaboration and ensure unambiguous information exchange. The IDO Valve use case demonstrates how industry-standard content, captured in detail, can support processes like valve specification and selection through semantic reasoning.
It aims to answer critical questions regarding valve design specifications and their compliance with intended behavior using reasoning algorithms. This use case incorporates various ontologies, including extracts from Aibel ontologies and newly developed ones like valve-core, to represent the Valve Data Sheet content. The OBI-IDO approach will demonstrate how semantic interoperability can support industrial processes.
